Wally Trumbull’s New York: Greenpoint Hospital

The scene of Wally Trumbull’s only foray into medicine, as part of a freelance article for National Geographic entitled “Under the Knife in North America: An Expose of Medicine in the Other Boroughs.” Wally was the lead surgeon on duty when local police hero Frank Vincent Serpico was carted in after being shot at point-blank range during a purported set-up in Williamsburg on Feb 3, 1971. While removing the .22 caliber bullet from Serpico’s face, Wally impacted the already fraying auditory nerve in the officer’s left ear, causing him to go half-deaf, and preventing the author from casting him in his off-Broadway musical, “Me and the Other Pope,” much to the chagrin of both. Out of respect, Wally would force at gunpoint the play’s lead actor, one Hillel O’Neal, to change his name to Frank Vincent, in tribute to the injured officer.

Limited quantities of this and other Trumbull posters are available in our store.

  5. This takes me back to when my two daughters were young and everyday was hard work. Days when you are sick and tired of the constant financial struggle. Its not just food, its the stamp you need to post the birthday card you’ve made, the shop that sells real bargains, but it is a bus/train ride away and you don’t have the fare, the very well meaning people who inform you how inexpensive something may be, but when you have nothing, everything is inaccessible. Banging your head against a brick wall because you think you may have found a solution then something, some body, lack of funds, etc. prevent you from going any further forward. It is absolutely disgusting and so, so wrong that this is happening and has been happening in a country of our relative wealth, and I feel for you. I really do. You are however, a very strong (whether these events make us stronger, or if its a strength somewhere hidden until times likes these), capable survivor. This is something you will have been told over and over again I am sure, but there are days when it is just not enough!!! Hopefully, you are on your way out of this situation and I wish you all the very best with your book, but mostly that you and your boy have a happy and healthy future ahead of you.

My wife and i were really glad when Ervin could carry out his analysis with the precious recommendations he got through the site. It’s not at all simplistic to just find yourself giving for free hints others have been selling. And we also keep in mind we have you to be grateful to for this. The entire explanations you have made, the simple web site menu, the friendships you can make it easier to engender – it’s all extraordinary, and it is making our son and us reason why the matter is interesting, which is very fundamental. Thank you for all the pieces!

  13. I believe what you published made a ton of
sense. However, think about this, what if you composed a catchier post title?
I am not saying your information isn’t solid,
however what if you added a headline to possibly get a person’s attention? I mean Wally Trumbull’s New York: Greenpoint Hospital – 300 Skillman Ave | Trumbull Island
is kinda vanilla. You could glance at Yahoo’s front page
and see how they create news titles to get viewers interested.
You might add a video or a pic or two to get readers interested about everything’ve written. In my opinion, it might bring your
posts a little bit more interesting.
